What's Within Walking Distance of Hotel Manyana?
Hotel Manyana sits on a quieter stretch of Barbados' South Coast, where there are no high rise hotels lining the beach, considerably more sounds of nature than traffic.
That means things are a little more spread out here. The ocean is out front, the surf is down the road and Surfers Bay beach bar is on your doorstep. For everything else, you may need to wander a little further.
Here’s what’s nearby.
1. On site and Next door
Let's start with the obvious one. Surfers Bay Beach Bar is quite literally on your doorstep. Our beach bar and restaurant sits between the hotel and the ocean, with breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks covered without so much as putting on proper shoes. There's a pool for hotel guests, plenty of space under the palms and a regular line-up of live music, Sunday brunches and sunset sessions. It is entirely possible to arrive at Manyana and not go very far at all.
Our neighbours, South Point Hotel, are right next door with a lovely restaurant, Driftwood, and a Day Spa metres from Manyana.
2. Freights Bay and Silver Rock, a few minutes' walk
For those who like a sport-fuelled vacation, local surf break and one of the best wind sports locations are a short walk from Hotel Manyana.
Even if you don't surf, it's worth wandering down to Freights. We have Boogie boards to loan, Sea turtles are regulars in the bay, and you'll often see them popping their heads up.
3. Miami Beach and Enterprise
Keep heading along the coast, and you'll reach the Enterprise and Miami Beach area, one of our favourite places for a proper beach day. It’s about 2.5km (1.5miles) along the coast.
Miami Beach is popular with locals and visitors, with food trucks and the fabulous Cafe Luna Restaurant for a rooftop evening.
4. Oistins: walkable, but we'd probably drive
Oistins is 3.5km (2 miles) away and home to the famous Friday night Fish Fry, as well as a supermarket, local food stalls, and cafes.
You can walk or cycle there, but a short drive or taxi is considerably easier, and recommended after dark.
But I like to be able to walk everywhere?
If your ideal location means stepping onto a full strip of shops, restaurants and late nights every evening, consider exploring the West Coast.
The good news is you don't have to choose.
We're only around 10 minutes from the airport, and splitting your stay is a great way to experience more of Barbados. Manyana is the perfect place to start or finish your trip, before heading further up the island for a completely different Barbados experience.
Barbados is only 34km (21 miles) long, so small enough to explore, and having your own wheels makes that considerably easier.
